Marathon stories
How can you do justice to an athlete’s story?
adidas briefed a content campaign around two of their key marathoners who were competing in two of the biggest events on the running calendar – the Berlin and New York City Marathons.
We set up an editorial narrative for each athlete that spoke to a truth about each of them as runners, whilst ensuring we were also telling a story that spoke to the adidas brand themes of creativity and imagination.
Four time NYC Marathon winner Mary Keitany trains all year with the goal of peaking on one November day on the streets of New York. This film documents how she uses the power of her imagination to visualise the vastly different environment of New York City whilst training 7,000 miles away in rural Kenya.
At 37 years of age, Gladys Cherono is still challenging for, and winning marathon events at the highest level. We translated this into a story about how she uses the power of her imagination to break through the kinds of barriers and limitations that her rivals associate with age.
